WHAT Embodiment Retreat
WHEN May 10-12, 2024
WHERE Highlands East, Ontario
WHY I love doing body image work- however I was wanting to go deeper. I wanted to go deeper than appearances. I have been learning more about being connected to my body- and how the 'mind body connection' is an illusion- that would imply they are not already connected- in fact, the mindbody are one.
Having a positive mental outlook is great, but it can only take you so far, when you are disembodied. What does it mean to be disembodied? What does like look like when you are fully embodying an experience? Questions we will explore during this intensive weekend retreat.
We can say all the affirmations we want, but until we have actual new experiences with our bodies, true transformation may not occur.
Enter Chelsea, and her somatic practices.
Somatic yoga is a comprehensive practice centered around heightened awareness of bodily sensations, movements, and rhythms. This approach emphasizes mindfulness and holistic well-being, urging participants to attune to their bodies and nurture a harmonious relationship between mind, body, and spirit. Through exploratory movement, somatic yoga facilitates improvements in flexibility, strength, and overall physical health. Practitioners often report experiencing a profound sense of presence and relaxation.

We have been trained to hate our bodies-up to 90% of us do-in fact, it’s become “normal” to hate our bodies. Yet the body is central to our experiences. We forget that there is another way to be. We forget the goodness our bodies can provide and we miss out on the fullness of experiences- the fullness of life. (Adapted from Hillary L. McBride’s book, The Wisdom of Your Body, 2021).
Our hope is that through this retreat, you will learn through discussion and practice how the stories you tell yourself about your body can be unlearned. Our hope is that you will leave with a better relationship with your body, and learn to regulate your emotions by increasing your bodily awareness.
You will see the benefits of being embodied and through the benefits you reap this weekend be able to carry that through to be fully embodied in your life experiences.
